The Art of Sweeping: Meditation and Cleaning
Join us the first Saturday of every month for 30 minutes of meditation, stretching, and soji (cleaning)!
Each month these special sessions will be lead by a different person. The meditation can take any form: sitting, moving, or guided (with or without music). The cleaning, too, can be a meditation. The purpose of the meditation is to reflect on the past week's chores, our priorities, our month, and quiet our minds.

Aikido Flexibility and Fitness Workshop
Flexibility and fitness are sometimes overlooked aspects of a standard one-hour aikido class. There’s only so much that can be covered in an hour, so we tend to give preference to technique practice.
Join us for a special workshop focused on enhancing flexibility and fitness. Stretch yourself—literally and figuratively—and go beyond what’s achievable in a one-hour class.
Students of all ranks are welcome and encouraged to attend! Sign up below.

Concert Fundraiser with Artemis Guitar Duo
Artemis Guitar Duo combines Latin American rhythmic vibes with Italian lyricism. Classical guitarists Katty Mayorga and Isabella Abbonizio founded the ensemble in 2019. Together, they perform a varied repertoire from the past to the present, with particular attention to new music written by female and emerging composers.
Brooklyn Guitar Salon
Welcome! The Brooklyn Guitar Salon Meetup is an open mic for classical guitarists who want to improve their performance skills. Each Meetup offers classical guitarists, as well as Flamenco and acoustic players, the opportunity to perform, socialize, learn, and talk about all things guitar. The BGS Meetup is a chance to build confidence performing for an in-person, supportive audience, expand and improve your repertoire, and test new pieces on stage. Beginner to advanced performers and their friends and family are all welcome.
Relax Completely: Alignment and Flexibility Workshop
Proper body alignment and flexibility are important components of powerful aikido technique. Misalignment triggers our fight and flight responses, making "complete relaxation"--one of Koichi Tohei Sensei's 4 basic principles of aikido--substantially harder to achieve. This special 3-hour intensive will focus on body alignment, relaxation, and aikido technique. The workshop will also address building constructive relationships with training partners and cultivating curiosity.
Josh Paul Sensei will lead the intensive. Paul Sensei is the head instructor of AOSB and a member of the Aikido World Alliance Technical Committee. He is ranked godan Aikikai and is also a 200-hour certified yoga instructor.
Please bring a comfortable T-shirt in addition to your uniform.
